Left: Standard Legionaire of the Spargan Army. In contrast to the mobile forces of Haven, Spargan legions were historically static occupation forces. Generally, legionaires were stationed in the same town or territory for months or even years at a time. Often far from supply and support centers, legionaire detatchments were heavily equipped to be able to survive for long periods without reinforcement. Each soldier carried ample ammuniton, medical kits, a large water bladder, crackers, salted meat, canvas blanket, ropes, explosives, spade, combat knife, short sword, and other assorted survival gear.
Center: Post-Calamity Legionaires stationed on the Spargan Isles bore the extra burden of a gas mask and air purifier. Gloves, face mask, goggles, and ear socks were worn to prevent exposure to the corrosive volcanic gasses that lingered over the islands. Over time the atmosphere corroded the Legionaires' polished armor and discolored their uniforms.
Right: Spargan officers, especially those of noble birth or of the older generation, continued to wear the traditional armor or the early empire.
